The Volunteer Mentor provides guidance and peer-based support to program participants who are newly employed or preparing to enter the workforce. Drawing on their own lived and professional experience, mentors help participants navigate workplace expectations, build confidence, and sustain long-term employment.
The volunteer will work within the Spark office as well as at the client's placement location. This position requires an English speaker, preferably French bilingual.
This role is best suited for someone who enjoys 1-1 interaction, relationship building, teaching, and collaboration. This role translates to Spark’s overall mission very closely as this volunteer will be directly helping jobseekers successfully complete their placement opportunities, learn key job retention skills, and skills related to obtaining employment opportunities.
If a bus or Gova pass is required it will be provided, if the volunteer is using a personal vehicle mileage reimbursement will be provided. Reimbursement will also be provided to volunteers for their required Vulnerable Sector Check. Volunteers will also be required to complete orientation and skills training.
