Description

The Volunteer Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for clients and visitors at our not-for-profit employment service. This role is key to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and professional environment, particularly for individuals from vulnerable populations. Volunteers provide front desk coverage on an as-needed basis when staff are unavailable, helping ensure smooth daily operations.

Responsibilities include greeting clients, providing general information about services, answering and directing phone calls, taking messages, receiving mail, and supporting basic reception duties. Volunteers are expected to maintain confidentiality and contribute to a respectful, accessible, and client-centered environment.

Willingness to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check required (cost covered by the organization).

This is a short-term, casual volunteer opportunity with the potential for ongoing involvement, depending on organizational needs. Volunteers provide coverage during staff absences such as training or out-of-office periods.

This position will be entirely within the Spark office. If the volunteer requires a bus or Gova pass, this will be provided; if the volunteer is using their personal vehicle, mileage reimbursement will be providedThis role is best suited to someone who loves talking to people, is good communicating over the phone, is organized, has good time-management skills, and creates a friendly welcoming environment for everyone. Speaking French an asset.
