Community Ambassadors for Rock the Farm Booth

Expired

Description

At the Sudbury Workers Education & Advocacy Centre, volunteers are an invaluable part of our work fighting for positive change in our community and have the opportunity to learn about workers’ rights, while gaining invaluable work and leadership skills. Community ambassador volunteers work in an educational capacity and are responsible for engaging with the community, raising awareness about workers' rights, and communicating feedback from members of the community. Community Ambassadors will assist staff at information booths at festivals and fairs and at presentations in schools and other community organisations; raising awareness and educating community members about workers’ rights and about the work done by the Sudbury Workers Centre. Multi-lingual ambassadors will also help with the translation of educational and other materials. Volunteers will also help with set up and tear down of booth.

We are seeking community ambassador volunteers to help us out at our Rock the Farm booth; we will be there every Wednesday. Even though the shifts are 2.5 hours long, if one volunteer signs up for both shifts on one day (for example, you signed up for 3:30-6 AND 6-8:30), we will buy you dinner that evening; it must be both shifts on the same day. On the day of the event, if you require transportation to and from the event, you can come to the office and be carpooled with the staff.

All volunteers will be required to go through a volunteer orientation session (approx 1 hour long) before they are able to volunteer with the Sudbury Workers Centre. Volunteer orientation sessions are regularly held on Wednesday from 5-6pm at our office (109 Elm St, Suite 209), however, other arrangements will be made if that time and date is unavailable to you.
