Join our event (inspired by the Amazing Race) and find the pieces of the Culture of the North Puzzle (COTN)!
We are hosting this community event to (1) share the findings of our youth-led project, (2) celebrate the hard work of the BIPOC youth and staff that were involved in the COTN project, (3) amplify BIPOC businesses, (4) bring community members together and foster a sense of belonging, (5) offer an opportunity for growth and learning towards active antiracism.
Teams will be given hints and tasked with finding hidden puzzle pieces within downtown Sudbury. Each puzzle piece will contain information and findings from the COTN project. The first team to complete their puzzle and cross the finish line will be awarded the grand prize. For community members that wish to attend the event but not take part in the race, there will be entertainment, booths showcasing BIPOC businesses, as well as food and beverages.
Everyone is invited to sign up for the Race to Equity! Although, we have VERY limited spots (15 teams) and registration will close on March 11, 2024. The rules for the teams are as follows:
1. You MUST register on the link in our bio (LinkTree on IG @futurenorth.futurdunord).
2. Only 2 people per team; one person on the team must be a youth (15 to 30 years old)
3. Registration is $50 (per team)
4. Team members will receive a limited edition race day hoodie
Can I attend without racing??
Yes! Community members are invited to join us at the front entrance of the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario to cheer on the teams. Two youth emcees will kick-off the event at 11am and until 3pm, there will booths to support and shop BIPOC businesses, food and beverages, as well as special discounts to the local stores in downtown Sudbury for those that attend!
