

Who We Are
We offer a safe place to support women in their journey in getting from where they are now to where they want to be. We offer the tools, resources and support to help and promote women’s status and well-being.
With core funding provided by the Ontario Ministry of the Status of Women, the Sudbury Women’s Centre (SWC) is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to providing information, referral, and support services to women who have been impacted by violence and/or difficult life circumstances. Our Centre offer key tools and resources that assist women in addressing issues of systematic discrimination and violence. We are committed to serving the needs of women in our community. To create and maintain a safe environment that is inclusive and respectful of diversity.

What We Do
The Sudbury Women’s Centre offers a wide variety of FREE programs designed to assist women in our community.
The Sudbury Women’s Centre is a central access point for women seeking service in a broad range of areas. We also provide toiletries, feminine hygiene products, bus tickets, food and infant items such as diapers and wipes. Women are treated with kindness, dignity and respect and are provided choices within their lives. The Centre helps women develop an awareness of their self-worth, their capabilities, and their rights.
OUR PROGRAMS
Sisters Offering Support (SOS)
A weekly drop-in and socialize program, hosted Wednesday nights from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Sudbury Women’s Centre. Women and their children enjoy recreational and social activities in a safe, fun and welcoming environment.
Self Compassion Workshops
Every Thursday from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m., join other women for informative sessions to learn about self-kindness, connectedness, mindfulness and how to be more compassionate to oneself and others.
Violence Prevention Workshops
A 2-part workshop that helps women identify and understand the complex cycle and patterns of violence including physical, emotional, sexual and financial abuse. Women learn to identify the risk factors and assess danger signs in a relationship.
Safety Plan Workshops
A one-on-one personal safety plan is created to help a woman before and after an assault. Women learn how to prepare to leave, how to be safe within the home, creating a code with her children and friends, when to call for help and community resources.
Sewing Circle
Every Monday, women are invited to participate in small sewing projects to encourage development and strengthening of both skills and relationships. Attendees enhance their creativity and sewing skills with support from a volunteer instructor and access to a large assortment of materials.
Collective Kitchen
Women get together to cook in bulk for their families. These cooking groups pool their money, skills, and energy to cook healthy and economical meals they take home to share with their families. Groups of 4-5 women work together with a facilitator and meet twice a week for 5 weeks.
My Sister's Closet
Women can pick up gently used clothing, footwear and accessories for themselves and their children. All items in the closet are $1/item or free for our clients. Items include; work & casual clothes, dress & casual shoes and purses, infant & children’s’ clothing, boots and shoes.
