Finlandia Village has a shuttle service for our Village Residents, to help them live more independently and be more socially engaged. Our "Bussi" has 7 seats and 2 wheelchair accessible seats, including a lift. 

Volunteer drivers share a monthly schedule, with an average of one drive per week (times can vary depending on type of trip: shopping, special event, casino)

Shuttle Bus Requirements:

- Over the age of 21
- Minimum of 5 years driving experience
- 2-Step Tuberculosis Skin Test (one year to date)
- Police Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen (6 months to date)
- G-Class license
- In-person and on-road training

Our seasonal gardeners work individually or in a team to help upkeep the courtyards and assist Residents with their raised beds and small patio gardens by planting, digging, watering, etc. Occasionally volunteers will take part in simple renovations, and/or assemble outdoor furniture/supplies.

Life Enrichment volunteers provide support to the Life Enrichment Team by assisting with porting residents to daily programs and special events, engaging residents in daily programs, assist with program set ups, and more!

 

Friendly visitors spend one-on-one or small group time with nursing home residents on a regular basis; engaging in conversation, playing cards, enjoying the outdoors, doing crafts together or gardening, just to name a few, while maintaining COVID-19 safety protocols.
