Paid Sick Days Rally August 29

Calendar Happens On Aug 29, 2020
Time 1 PM - 4PM
Expired

Description

This Saturday August 29th across Ontario there are rallies and actions being held in support of the call for paid sick days. Many, including ours, are tying the idea of Paid Sick Days to a Safe September.  We know that parents without paid sick days can't afford to not send their children to school, which means disease spreads faster. There is an easy remedy: paid sick days for all workers in Ontario.

We need volunteers! The volunteer commitment would be from 1 PM to 4 PM

There are several volunteer positions that are required, including:

  • Health and Safety Station staffing. Handing out water bottles, disposable masks, hand sanitizer, and being ready with the First Aid Kit. (No First Aid training required, but a bonus if you have it!)
  • Action Set Up.  We are using chalk and yarn to demonstrate how quickly COVID can spread in a school and back out into the community. No artistic talent required, but a willingness to draw chalk circles and lines is what we need!
  • Literature distribution and petition signing. We need people to hand out pamphlets and circulate with the petition to get them signed.
  • Social Media. We need people to be uploading pics and messages to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
There will be various speakers from community groups and organized labour to talk about the need. Our local MPP's will be in attendance.
