Special Olympics Ontario - Sudbury is currently accepting applications for a variety of team positions. If you are interested in learning more, consider responding to this need or emailing the SOO-Sudbury Community Coordinator @ sudbury.communitycoordinator@specialolympicsontario.ca. It is the discretion of the Community Coordinator to appoint a suitable Member to replace another Member when deemed necessary.
Volunteer Coordinator
The Volunteer Coordinator shall:
1. Develop a list of prospective coaches and volunteers;
2. Develop and keep-up-to date an accurate SOO- Sudbury Community Council contact list. This list will be brought to each meeting and distributed to Executive members, Coordinators and Sport Club Head Coaches as significant changes occur;
3. Keep a list of Volunteer Members and their NCCP certification;
4. Present a written report at each monthly SOO- Sudbury Community Council meeting; and
5. Attend all SOO- Sudbury Community Council meetings.
Fundraising Coordinator
The Fundraising Coordinator shall:
1. In association with all Executive and Coordinator members, develop a fundraising plan to adequately meet the financial needs of the SOO- Sudbury Community Council and its Sport Club programs;
2. Develop strategies and resources to enable the goals in the fundraising plan to be met (for example, grant applications, in-kind donations, service club solicitations);
3. Attend all SOO- Sudbury Community Council meetings; and
4. Prepare and submit a written a monthly report.
The Public Relations Coordinator
The Public Relations Coordinator shall:
1. Act as a representative of and spokesperson for the SOO- Sudbury Community Council with local media and throughout the area;
3. Administer the development of and changes to the SOO- Sudbury Web Site;
4. Attend all SOO- Sudbury Community Council meetings; and
5. Prepare and submit a written monthly report
Bingo Coordinator
The Bingo Coordinator shall:
1. Oversee Bingo events at Delta Bingo.
2. Manage volunteer coordination for Bingo events
3. Ensure volunteers assisting at the events are responsible
4. Report to the Community Coordinator
** Worth noting, the Bingo Coordinator is not required to provide a police record check
At the present time, all meetings are virtual and occur once a month on the 2nd Thursday of each month.
If interested in these positions, volunteers must:
a) Submit a current police check no older than 5 months
b) Register online with Special Olympics Ontario
c) Be fully vaccinated, and
d) Supply 2 references
All positions have a two year commitment mandate.
