The Sudbury Symphony Orchestra will be holding an annual holiday concert on December 7 2019 and will need to run a mock set up of the stage to determine adequate seating for all musicians.
We are seeking volunteers to assist with our stage set up on December 1 2019 (Sunday) from 11am - 4pm.
If there are enough volunteers and the stage is set up and sorted out quickly, volunteers may leave earlier than the anticipated end time. If volunteer hours are needed please let us know so that we can discuss the time frame with you.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- work under the direction of the Personnel Manager, Conductor and Office Manager
- work in a team environment
- adhere to all health and safety procedures
- be punctual and able to work quickly and efficiently
- be able to perform physical tasks (some heavy lifting required)
Job Duties:
- set up and rearrange stage elements, including risers, chairs, stands, conductor podium, keyboard and percussion instruments (until desired set up is achieved)
- contribute to the efficient movement and placement of chairs, music stands and other equipment as directed
- assemble risers
- physically transport chairs and percussion equipment from storage area to stage (some stairs)
- tear down stage and return all chairs, podium, risers, stands, keyboard and percussion to the appropriate storage areas
Please note that while the Fraser Auditorium is accessible for people with disabilities or mobility issues the area between our second storage and the stage is only accessible by stairs.
This position is suitable for students wishing to obtain volunteer hours and people interested in learning what goes on behind the scenes when creating a memorable concert.
Light refreshments will be available.
Volunteers are able to receive general admission tickets for concerts. Office manager will discuss the ticket distribution to all interested volunteers.
