Who We Are
Founded in 1953 by the late Emil First, the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra became a registered charitable organization in 1975. The organization’s mission to increase the awareness and appreciation of music in the Sudbury Region and surrounding area by providing the opportunity for the public to attend a stimulating program of concerts and by encouraging artistic excellence, commitment and education.
Our vision is to promote a culture of creativity in the City of Greater Sudbury and aspire to foster a community in which children and adults are exposed to the extraordinary personal benefits that come from participation in music and the arts.

What We Do
SSO CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC
The Sudbury Symphony Conservatory of Music and Cambrian College’s Academy of Music is a teaching facility devoted to fostering a healthy knowledge of music to students of all ages.
Our instructors are all professional musicians, who are greatly respected and admired in their craft, both throughout the community and Canada.
All Lessons are held at Cambrian College (1400 Barrydowne Road) in the Music Department.

CONCERTS IN CARE
Bringing live music to seniors in care.
Concerts in Care brings the inspiring music and performances of Canada’s most distinguished professional musicians into the homes of our elderly, frail and often isolated citizens. During a 45-minute concert, residents in institutional long-term care experience the joy and beauty of great live music

HEAR AND NOW
The Sudbury Symphony Orchestra presents random acts of music throughout the City of Greater Sudbury. Through spontaneous performances, the SSO makes this city a more musical place to be: listen carefully, as you never know where a performance will pop up!
